Alternative. Creative. Unconventional. Gorgeous. Bold. Those are some of the adjectives used in articles describing Tangent. Located in downtown Madison's booming East Washington Avenue corridor, Tangent is a kitchen and taproom with a vibe that is uniquely its own. From the rustic flooring to the opulent chandeliers, Moroccan-style tiles to art deco inspired wallpaper, Tangent provides a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides flood the space with natural light daytimes, while at night the lit dome of the Capitol dominates.
The design runs off on a tangent as it transitions between the three services areas - private dining, taproom and main dining. Turquoise wallpaper, marble floors and a tin ceiling define the art deco style of private dining. A dazzling mural by a local tattoo artist sets the tone of the taproom with its large six-sided bar, while the main dining area is all about a grunge aesthetic with chandeliers adorned with a custom metal art sculpture, high ceilings, eclectic food and good conversation.
