Specifications Specialist

Experienced specifications writer to lead our team in the creation of project manuals

This position is responsible for preparing project specifications (including general conditions), enhancing and maintaining master specifications and determining innovative ways to meet client needs through the construction specification delivery process. Performs specification modifications for specific projects. Manages work flow pertaining to the project manual to and from the project team. Maintains specification and materials resource libraries.

responsibility Highlights
  • Creates project manuals according to project schedule.
  • Interprets architectural and interior design plans and prepares material lists and specifications to be used.
  • Modifies or writes architectural specifications and compile specifications documents.
  • Coordinates with and assists other staff in determining appropriate specifications to be used on specific projects.
  • Maintains master specification, materials and products information files.
  • Issues bulletin on specification changes as developed.
  • Maintains awareness of the products on the market, maintains and develops the firm library of catalogs and other information for designers and architects to use.
  • All other related work, as assigned or as apparent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in architecture, engineering or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience working in building construction settings, including but not limited to architecture firms, architecture/engineering firms, construction management or specification consulting firms.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as an architectural specifications writer.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural design, engineering coordination, design trends, products, construction methodology, building systems, material application and manufacturer/supplier appropriateness.
  • Strong knowledge of building materials and the construction process.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to manage intertwining details and information.
