Faced with a housing shortage in the Dells area for seasonal workers, Wilderness Resort determined that additional on-site housing provided the best solution to ensure their temporary staff would have quality, affordable housing. The new, 3-story dormitory building houses 264 and provides residents with comfortable, community living.
Amenities include multi-station kitchen, large living room, multi-media room, community restrooms with showers and changing rooms, laundry facilities and vending areas. Human Resources offices, main building entrance and lobby/reception areas are located on the second floor, which is at ground level on the sloped site. Resident units include a padlockable closet for each of the 4 occupants, bunk beds, microwave, refrigerator, counters/desktops and overhead shelving.
The wood frame/wood truss structure features a combination of exterior finishes for architectural interest, including composite wood board and batten siding and composite wood lap siding with stone and stucco accents. Rugged yet aesthetically pleasing interior materials and finishes help ensure the inside holds up under hard use.
